The vessels were designed and built to have good seakeeping characteristics and maneuverability. Selection of the light materials and construction of superstructure from aluminum allowed the vessels to achieve a trials speed of twenty (20) knots at the maximum continuous rating and fifteen (15) knots operational speed with cargo onboard. Air-conditioned /heated accommodation provided for a complement of eight (8) Crew and eighty (80) Passengers. The compact superstructure and efficient layout offers an unobstructed panoramic view in all directions

Upon completion of construction, the boats were assigned the RS class notation: KM✪ HSC crew boat.
