Overview

Project execution

The new ferry vessel is assigned for transportation of 56 railway wagons with 1520 mm track breadth and motor trucks, including 50 car trains, dangerous goods, and passengers. The ferryboat construction foresees an aft cargo handling scheme and is equipped with a side ramp for loading and unloading vehicles from and to a usual berth.

The place for helicopter landing is equipped according to ICAO requirements. Overall dimensions of the helideck are D=18 x 18.2 m. The final approach and take-off area, touch down and lifting area are equal to overall dimensions D=16 m. Maximum weight of landing helicopter is 11 t.

The helideck is protected by a low-expansion foam fire extinguishing system. The helideck monitoring system includes visibility distance sensor, cloud border height sensor, air temperature, humidity and pressure sensor, wind speed and direction sensor, and wind cone.

Retractable fin stabilizers for stabilization underway, with fin area up to 7.48 m2, are installed in the area of bulge Fr.92-103 on starboard and port side.

The cargo lift platform has total length of 24.73 m and total breadth of 8.6 m. Safe working load of the cargo lift is two rail trucks of 94 tons each, total 188 tons, with axle load of 12 tons on four wheels or 10 tons on two wheels.

Hoisting and lowering operations are performed by four jigger winches via pre-stretched wire ropes. Hydraulic operated locking devices are provided at the longitudinal ends of the lift platform for cargo loading and unloading.

Four guide pillars and guide pieces are installed for lifting and lowering operations at harbor condition. Vehicle stopper devices are installed on deck No.1 and No.3 and operated by hydraulic cylinder. Theoretical maneuvering time of lifting or lowering with loaded vehicles on the lift platform is about three minutes.

The cargo lift system is equipped with a waterproof cover. Safe working load of the lift cover is two rail trucks of 94 tons each, total 188 tons, with axle load of 12 tons on four wheels or 10 tons on two wheels.
