Overview

Project execution

ZANGILAN is a self-propelled tanker with six cargo tanks for carrying crude oil and petroleum products with density up to 1.015 t/m3, including gasoline, without restrictions for flash-point, ensuring the temperature of carrying cargo up to 50 C. The vessel provides simultaneous carriage of two sorts of cargo.

The vessel is a steel, single-deck ship with two full-rotated rudder propellers, forecastle and poop, aft engine room and deckhouses, six cargo tanks and two slop tanks, double bottom, double sides, and trunk deck in the cargo tank area, with cylindrical bow, transom stern, and bow thruster.

The ship has been designed and constructed to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class. The wheelhouse is designed with all-around visibility and minimum shadow regions according to UI SC 181.

The vessel hull is designed to Ice1 class, which assumes occasional year-round operation in non-freezing seas and fine-broken rarefied ice of non-Arctic seas.

Motion and maneuverability are provided by two full revolving rudder propellers with fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles. To improve controllability at low speeds, in narrow waters and during mooring, the vessel is fitted with a bow thruster of propeller-in-pipe type with fixed-pitch propeller.

The cargo system can operate during loading or discharge with two cargo types simultaneously. Six cargo tanks are located lengthwise, each served by an independent deepwell cargo pump, while each group of tanks has a manifold for loading and discharge on both sides.

Slop tanks are served by their independent deepwell pump and can be connected to the aft group of tanks. Cargo pumps and the slop tank pump have electric drives with frequency converters, providing smooth speed variation and efficient remaining cargo removal.

Cargo system valves have remote hydraulic drive with operation from a cargo-ballast control console in the wheelhouse, while remote-controlled valves also have local manual operation. The ship is provided with a two-level independent overflow control system with audible and visual alarms.

Cargo and slop tanks are equipped with stationary single-nozzle tank cleaning machines, portable tank cleaning hatches, vapor emission control system, portable water-driven ventilation, and a special cargo tank sprinkling system to reduce evaporation and environmental impact at high air temperatures.
