Overview

Project execution

SOCAR-1 was designed and built as a steel hull, twin screw tug boat equipped with two diesel propulsion engines and two 360 degree steerable propellers with nozzles, engaged in berthing and unberthing for ships in harbour and towage in coastal waters.

The vessel is under the balance of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping JSC and performs towing works for large vessels and barges in the Caspian Sea.

The vessel is capable of performing towage, assistance and berthing of large container ships, bulk carriers and VLCCs in ports, with capability for fire-fighting and oil pollution control.

The 50T bollard pull ASD tug was built by Baku Shipyard LLC for the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic. The designer was Marine Technology Development PTE Ltd.

By design the vessel has KM* Tug notation, and by fact KM* R2 with fire-fighting capability. The vessel is constructed in round bilge form with bilge keels.

The hull is divided into six watertight compartments: aft peak/water ballast tank, propeller room, engine room, chain locker/fuel oil tanks/lube oil tank, void space, and fore peak/water ballast tank.

The vessel is single bottom construction except partial double bottom construction in way of double bottom tank.
