Overview

Project execution

LACHIN is a self-propelled tanker with six cargo tanks for carrying crude oil and petroleum products with density up to 1.015 t/m3, including gasoline, without restrictions for flash-point, ensuring the temperature of carrying cargo up to 50 C. The vessel provides simultaneous carriage of two sorts of cargo.

Steel, single-deck vessel, with two full-rotated rudder propellers, forecastle and poop, aft engine room and deckhouses, six cargo tanks and two slop tanks, double bottom, double sides and trunk deck in cargo tanks area, cylindrical bow, transom stern and bow thruster.

The ship has been designed and constructed to Russian Maritime Register of Shipping class. The wheel-house is designed with all-around view and minimum shadow regions according to UI SC 181.

The vessel hull is designed to Ice1 class, which assumes occasional year-round operation in non-freezing seas and fine-broken rarefied ice of non-Arctic seas.

Vessel motion and maneuverability are provided by two full revolving rudder propellers with fixed-pitch propellers in nozzles. To improve controllability at low speeds, narrow waters and moorings, the vessel is equipped with a bow thruster of propeller-in-pipe type with fixed-pitch propeller.

The vessel is intended for carrying crude oil and petroleum products, including benzene, without restrictions for flash-point, ensuring cargo temperature up to 50 C. The system can operate during loading or discharge with two types of cargo simultaneously.

Six cargo tanks are located lengthwise of the vessel, each served by an independent deepwell cargo pump. Each group of tanks has a manifold providing loading and discharge of cargo on both sides.

Slop tanks are served by an independent deepwell pump and can be connected to the aft group of tanks. Cargo pumps and the slop tank pump have electric drives equipped with frequency converters, ensuring smooth pump speed variation.

Cargo system valves have remote hydraulic drives. Remote operation is from a cargo-ballast operations control console located in the wheelhouse, while valves with remote control also have local manual operation.

To prevent tank overfilling during loading, the ship is provided with a two-level independent overflow control system feeding audible and visual signals.

Cargo and slop tanks are equipped with stationary single-nozzle tank cleaning machines driven by liquid, sufficient to cover bottom, sides and under-deck structure, together with tank cleaning hatches for portable machines.

The vessel is provided with a vapor emission control system to collect and discharge vapors of compatible cargoes from cargo and slop tanks to shore through a separate manifold with international flanges.

Cargo and slop tanks as well as double hull spaces are ventilated by a water-driven portable fan. A special cargo tank sprinkling system reduces petroleum evaporation and environmental contamination during operation at high air temperatures.
