Overview
Facility description
Baku Shipyard's workshops and production areas are organized around the core production streams required for shipbuilding, ship repair, conversion and marine fabrication.
The facility combines heavy steel processing, pipe fabrication, electrical outfitting, mechanical machining, blasting, coating and inspection-ready production controls.
Each workshop is equipped with dedicated machinery, trained personnel and workflow support for new build vessels, repair scopes, upgrading works and marine/offshore construction activities.

Workshops and capabilities

Workshop
Hull Workshop
The hull is the most notable structural entity of a ship: the watertight enclosure that protects cargo, machinery and accommodation spaces from weather, flooding and structural damage.
The Hull Workshop is equipped with the required machines and tools to execute high-quality metal construction works. Large steel constructions with complicated shapes are part of the yard's daily production work.
The workshop also supports metal construction works, ship repairs and ship modifications.
Key processes
- Steel plate and profile cutting and forming
- Fabrication of panels
- Block fabrication - sub-assembly
- Block fabrication - block assembly
- Pre-outfitting
- Block erection
- Inspection and testing

Workshop
Piping Workshop
The piping section focuses on carbon steel and stainless steel marine piping, hydraulic tubing, aluminum, copper, copper-nickel and plastic pipe fabrication and installation.
The workshop supports new build vessels with pipe support fabrication and installation, and also handles repair, replacement and re-routing of pipe systems during repair and conversion activities.
A large, well-equipped pipe workshop, carbon steel spool fabrication store and separately organized exotic pipe shop allow safe production and delivery of quality products.
Skilled fitting and welding personnel perform marine and hydraulic piping works and are also qualified for offshore, oil and gas, alloy steel, diving and boiler piping standards.

Workshop
Electrical Workshop
Successful electrical operation starts when theoretical and practical knowledge are combined. Installation of modern systems and exposure to local and world-class professionals are part of the electrical section's daily routine.
The electrical section carries out electrical installation on newly constructed ships, including cable trays, cutting, laying and connection of cables and connectors, circuits, switchboards, lighting, navigation systems, electronic parts, instrumentation and machinery.
The workshop is also involved in ship repair and conversion, including overhauling and repairing electrical equipment, fabrication of main, emergency and distribution switchboards and panels, insulation and resistance tests.
Major equipment

Workshop
Mechanical Workshop
Mechanical production in new build projects includes installation of ship machinery and mechanical or marine equipment on board, alignment of propulsion systems, commissioning and preservation of machinery.
For ship repair projects, the workshop supports propulsion system repair under OEM supervision, inspection, repair and testing of machinery and equipment such as valves and heat exchangers.
Machining processes include turning, milling, grinding, polishing, drilling and tapping.
Key processes
- Installation of ship machinery and marine equipment
- Laser alignment of propulsion systems
- Pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing
- Preservation before and after onboard installation
- Propulsion system repair under OEM supervision
- Inspection, repair and testing of machinery and equipment
- Turning, milling, grinding, drilling and tapping

Workshop
Blasting & Painting
Blasting and painting facilities perform surface preparation, coating and final paint systems for plates, blocks and sections before final transfer and integration on the building slab.
Main facilities include an automated blasting and coating workshop and separate fully equipped blasting and painting chambers.
The chambers are equipped with steel shot, grit recovery, full ventilation and dust removal, compressed air supply and paint spraying systems.
Key processes
- Steel plate surface degreasing and high-pressure washing
- Surface preparation - blasting, power tooling and cleaning
- Painting - primer, first, second and final coat
